Default stereo help

im gonna warn you all, this is gonna be long. my buddy has a 99 ram with the infinity sound system. he came to me cuz only one speaker was working with a sony head unit he had recieved. i went in to try to fix it. when i pulled it out of the dash i found an RCA hooked up to the back of the headunit and it was spliced among the speakers. along with a yellowe wire running to the fuse box.( at the time i didnt know why it was there) so i took out the head unit and redid all the wiring. went back to install it and it wouldnt turn on. i eventually tried hookin it up to my car, but i think i screwed up the sony head unit. so i put my cd player into his truck. still nothing. i called up crutchfields tech support so i could get the wiring schematic of all the wires. wrote it all down. well after a while i got it working. but not like it should. it turns on and works fine but.... the way i had to hook up the wires is all messed up. so to get it all workin i had to hook up the wires as follows...
from the headunit, i have the red and yellow wires hooked up to the harnesses yell and pink wire. its all one big clump of wires. its the only way it works.(minus the fact that everytime the car shuts off the unit resets itself cuz theres no memory)
i kno that to hook all it up, u go red to red yellow to yellow and all that. which is what i did the first time.
so i wanna know what the eff is up and how do i get it to work? i told you it was long if u have any more questions if i wasnt clear or ur confused about something ask

you hooked up the red wire to the yellow? and the yellow wire to the pink wire? or vise versa? if you have the red to yelllow and yellow to pink try to switch those to get memory. Don't forget to hook up the factory amp....and a wiring harness would of made it alot easier...

also with the wires mentioned, the only way anything will work is if i hook them all up as one big clump of wires
