Check Eng Light After Heavy Rains?
Hey Guys, so driving home on the highway today in the pouring rain after driving in the rain for a week and all of a sudden the check eng. light turns on and it starts to ride a little rough? Do you they are connected with one another? Thanks-
Best thing to do whenever you get a check engine light, is find out exacly why it came on, i.e. check the code. Certain years you can check by turning the key on and off several times. Search "code on off" on this site. Or you can take it to Advance, Auto Zone, etc. and they will check it for you. If you use the key on off method, just plug the code you get into a search box on Google, Yahoo, etc. and it will come back with a plethora of info.
Can't find exactly how to do the on off code- I found somthing that said turn the key 1 click- then 1 click more, on and off? Nothing happened at all??
I forgot the search engine here is picky when it comes to 2 and three letter words. A cut and paste from another thread:
With the ignition key initially off, do the on-off-on-off-on routine with the key within 5 seconds. If no codes are in, the display says P DONE right away. If codes are in, it will display the code(s), then a row of dashed lines, then P DONE at the end of the test.
IIRC it only works on obII, and there is one year that doesn't support this diagnostic check.

otherwise just go to a local autozone or such and get them to read your codes.
