Default cataletic converter

i just need to know if anyone has tooken out there cat converter and if they did what happens? is it worth it?
hard facts no speculations please

It needs to be there for the emissions system to work properly.

i didn't take mine out, what i did was cut it open, take a hammer and break all the "cat" out and then closed it up and welded a sheild over it so you can't even tell i touched it. I got 2 mpg better, thats prolly just due to the fact my cat was clogged, but i also got an amazing rumble from my truck now
