Default Axle Shaft Nut Wont Budge

I am in the process of changing myhub assembly because the bearing is going bad, but I cant get eh axle shaft castle nut off for nothing. I have tried everything. I let some penetrating oil set on it for awhile, then heated it up pretty good then used a about a 5ft cheater bar and still absolutely no movement at all. Anybody have any ideas?

do you have access to an impact wrench ? if not, you might take it to a local tire shop or garage, have it removed, oiled, put back on not quite so tight, and then take it back home and continue.

If you don't mind being kinda redneck, use a long breaker bar longer than the distance from nut to edge of tire, Place tool on nut, drive truck so tool contacts the ground and that should loosen the nut...

...or break something spectacularly. Try it at your own risk.

Here is a note from the haynes manual:

NOTE: On some models, the axle hub nut on the driver's side has a left hand threads (turn clockwise to loosen)

...but it does not say which models?

hmm...mine wasn't left thread, but it did have nasty lock-goo on it, my slightly-less redneck approach was a floor jack under the handle of the breaker bar...worked good.

Probably why the bearing is gone,if nut was put on too tight! Spray it down with pb blaster and let it sit over night then do the redneck trick!I've done the same trick with the crank balance bolt.

Okay I'm through with it. I tried the floor jack underneath it first since there is no tire on it and all it did was bend my Crafstmen ratchet thats about 2ft long that I bought yesterday just for this job. So im done with it. Its gettin put back together and going somewhere..

Get a bigger cheater bar, seriously. Try to get one that'll go over or fit into the 5ft one you had on there. Leverage is the way to go. Even if you have an impact gun I doubt you have one with enough ***** and a compressor with enough ***** to run it. You'll probably need a good 1000 ft/lb one if its that tight, and those take like 90 cfm
