Hey guys. I changed my sparkplugs a week ago with autilite 3923's. I love the things. So i decided to get some autolite wires as well and i put them on today. I have to say that it was a pain in the rear seeing that the distributor is in the back of the engine. Anyhow, my cat has been rattling for several months now. Ive been planning on getting it fixed but just havent got around to it. Well, put the new wires on and fired the truck up and it ran horrible. I was afraid i switched a wire or something but the truck was making a huge sound near the exhaust. Me and my grandad took the truck for a test drive and we could tell that the wire was not switched. We noticed the truck didnt have much power and we put it to the floor once and the cat totally clogged up. We barely made it home which was a mile. The truck had no power at all. Im going to have the truck towed this week and get it repaired. Any of yall hoave any idea on how much a new cat will be. Tell me yalls story about when your cat went out. Thanks

 

when my cat started rattling...i took the clamps off the muffler & pulled it off, saw it was a pretty straight shot to the cat from that point, then used a long steel rod i had lying aroundand a hammer to pound the catalyst apart. maybe 15 minutes of breaking that crap up, then took it for a "spirited" drive to help rattle the stuff apart& blow it out even more. a couple more times beating it apart & it should all be out...no inspection in my state & check engine light hasn't come on yet either after 2 weeks.i'm not too worried about it. it'll get me by until i get my longtube headers & custom true duals w/ H pipe
