engine swap on 95 ram 1500

I have a 95 ram 1500 long bed with a 5-spd manual tranny and a 3.9l v6. I want to swap it with a 318 and was told it wasn't that hard and was compatible with the existing tranny. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
