The SS Trailblazers came in both RWD and AWD.....and the drivetrain loss on an AWD/4x4 system is fairly close. AWD loses the most, but with the difference in weight between his SUV and your truck should have made up for it easily, assuming of course he was in an AWD.

If it was an AWD model, I would say that's why you beat him.

Is that to say that parisitic losses would be neglible between a vehicle with awd and a 4wd vehicle with manual disengaged?? I was just wondering. I saw that guy who used to host that "trucks" show talk about this, but I really can't remember what he said.

Yeah he let up after I beat him. I was wondering about the hp ratings as well. If the 391hp is at the flywheel, could it be that AWD yields a higher parasitic loss through the drivetrain? I was told that my setup would consevativelydyno at or around 310 at the rear wheels. More if I put in long tubes- Backorder backorder backorder[:@]I hate that freakin word. Anywho- say on the best of days (recently changed tranny and diff synthetics) I'm at 20% parasitic loss. That should put me at 387.5 flywheel. You don't know how Gm got 391 hp out on Thier Gm motor either. Not to say that DC doesn't do the same thing (ever read about all the dissapointed Hemi guys on dyno day), but the 310 rwhpcame from someone who builds and dynos these motors in these truckson a regular basis.

GM doesnt use Bhp anymore, so its on the fly, meaning the numbers given are the actual numbers. Though they do tend to fudge them lower than actuality. If anything the ls2 is more than that. But in the trailblazer the lack of 9 hp against say the gto ls2 is more than likely the exhasut manifolds, its tougher to fit proper exhaust on a vehicle that was designed for a specific motor and then a bigger one is crammed in there, whereas the gto was built arround the LSx motor.

http://home.comcast.net/~ogoodwin1/L...comparison.JPG

Btw, thats the dynograph for the LSx motors
So as you can see, the ls2 has a very desirable and broad torque curve, but it doesnt make more than 200hp till after 3k. If your making 380 something horse, My bet is that its pulling harder than the ls2 would down lower. What are your torque numbers?

I don't remember what he said the torque would be.I plan to get it dyno'd after the long tubes go in ( if in fact they ever get here ). Everything I read on the ls2 said that the 391/395 came from gm. I can't believe they would fudge them lower.

But guess what, I just looked and they shipped tomofoingday. You may want to look as well.

Thanks for asking. I wouldn't have looked otherwise, and now I can say that something good actually happened today.
