A variety of issues maybe tied in together?
99 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.9 lt Auto.
Problem #1: Transmission is starting to shift into 3rd slow?
Problem #2: AC is not working. I usually have to charge the R134 a every year & it works for the season. This year I charged it, the compressor runs bit no cold air?
Problem #3: I noticed when I accelarate heavy the air coming out of my vents (blower on)shuts off. I let off the accelarater & it starts to blow again. Maybe a vacume leak & might that also be my tranny & A/c issues?
Any suggestions.
Thanks
Bob

Well i dont know anything about the first two. Your third problem is probly a vacuum leak. Specifically a vacuum line that runs under the battery that had corroded. I had the same problem plus my cruise control wouldnt work. I went to the dealership and the parts guy gave me a copper line with two rubber ends that fit where the corroded line was before. The line has to fit very TIGHT or it will lose vacuum.
#1 Did you check the trans fluid level/condition? When was it changed last?
#2 Your LEAK is getting worse not better. So, it would take even MORE refigerant to get things cool. Have the system leak tested or do it yourself by adding in some dye and another can of refrigerant.
#3 Is the blower actually shutting off? Or is the air being redirected through the defrost outlets at the windshield? If the latter, its probably just the check valve on the intake manifold to the a/c system.
