Default kinda off topic....

ok.. this is wayyyy off topic.. not even on a dodge.. but im thinking alot of you might be able to give me some input.. i have a car at the lot i work at.. it came in on a truck.. wouldnt run... i got it cranked up .. got it to run.. it runs way rough.. no oil pressure.. and it makes a lot of 'rattling' noise.. only way i got it to start was to put the acc. to the floor as soon as i let the accelerator go .. it died.. almost instantly..the serpentine belt was torn up from the idler pully hopping from something in the engine giving resistance to it.. one part says it could be the oil pump.. another part says to replace the whole engine.. any ideas or anything for me to check? thanks in advance

Ratteling is bad....that could be a spun bearing, and if thats the case it might be saveable if it hasn't been ran to much.

I guess my first question for you would be what kind of a car is it and other than the engine the overall condition it is in. Is it an older classic? Is it failrly new? Carb or fuel injection? Is it worth putting money into?

You state no oil pressure and rattling noise. The rattling could be bearings, lifters, or timing chain to name a few things.

The dieing could be a fuel problem. Carb dirty or bad. Fouled injectors, bad pressure regulator. It could be related to timing.

If you can give us some more details about the car and we can go from there.
