I have my CB mounted behind my seat in the top black tray next to the arm rest/center console. (I have a reg cab.) I drilled a hole in the bottom and ran it up next to the bottom black tray.

i used a 18' coax and ran it though the big rubber plug in the firewall and mounted the cb in the floorboard, pointed straight up in front of the middle seat. you could also drill a hole in the floorboard in the back.
a friend of mine just bought the $34 cobra at walmart and a 3' firestick, put it in, no tuning, and his works the best of anyones.

my setup is in here. https://dodgeforum.com/m_614970/tm.htm

buying that extra hunk of wire is you best bet you can ziptie it away from the driveshafts and whatnot!

My next project is the install a Ranger RCI-2950. My plan is to purchase an extra kick panel. The part of the lower dash right below the stereo and cup holder. then I am going to cut a hole in it large enough to put in the radio at the optimum viewing angle. Then fill and paint the outer edges of the hole to make it look like it came that way. That way I will be able to have the radio installed in the dash like the stereo is. I will then purchase the neccesary length of coax (in the propper 3 foot increments for the lowest possible SWR reading) to route it through a rubber gromet in the firewall, under the truck and out to the area I am going to mount the anntena. Which I havnt decided on which one to get yet. I am looking for an anntena that is a 102 inch steel whip that is tuned to work in the 10 and 11 meter freq range. More than likely I will attatch it to a quick release on a ball mount somwhere on the side of the truck bed. I am in Iraq right now so this project will have to wait until the August time frame, but I will make sure I post pictures of it when I am finished.
