How much lift do I have?
Is there any way to figure out how much lift was added to a 99 1500? I bought this truck used and I see that it has some Rancho suspension parts and a 2 in body lift. It sits on 35x12.5/r15 cooper discoverer's and still has tons of tire well room. I thought about measuring the springs and comparing them with the length on the stock springs but I don't know the dimensions of the factory springs. If I had to guesse I would say that it probably sits 9 ft off the ground. I love the way that it sits and the hood sits about shoulder levelto me and I am 6'2". It gets kinda frustrating when someone asks what I have for a suspension and not knowing. Any help you guys might be able to provide will be much appreciated and I will provide any additional info you guys might need. Also on a side not does anyone know what those tires measure out to as far as 245,255,265 etc. I see that is what most of you guys use when describing you'r tires.
Thats a good question because i am in a similar situation. i think pictures would proabably really help out. the tire sizes as far i know goes like this
width/sidewall/wheel size so for example my truck has 315/75/16's which i believe is a 35 or 34.7 inch tire and is 12.5inches wide.. i think... i could be wrong on that. width 315 is a decently wide tire IMO

You can go to www.1010tires.com and you'll see a link for "tire calculator" From there you can enter in metric measurements and it will give you the overall specs of the tire.
pictures would defenitally help out....rancho doesn't make a kit larger then 3". Does your truck have stock control arms? if so im guessing you have a total of 5" of lift. The metric tire system is easy to use i you use it often, but othewise it gets confusing. The first number is your width in milimeters. The next number is the aspect ration....mutliply your width by the number to get your sidewall height. And the last number is your rim size....so like a 315/75/16 is a 35/12.50r16...for 15 inch rims...most companies don't use the metric system...
Thanks for the help guys. I don't have a digital camera so I can't get pics up yet. Iwish thatI could call theoriginal owner And know what exactly he had done to this truck. I know that it has 3"in/out exhaust. It has flowmaster 44 series mufflers without cats thatends before the rearright tire. Both of the exhaustpipes are brought over to the right side andthe ends of the mufflers and tips are tucked under the truck with no exit point. It has a K&N filtercharger system. The pcm has either been flashed or hypertech programmed because the shift points are different than stock. It hasdif gears andthe dealer had told me that it was given a new transmission about 2 yrs ago that is geared higher than the stock tranny.( I don't know whatthe benefit of this would be for a truck). It haswestin side steps and achrome roll bar with lights that is welded directly to the frame. I will try to borrow a digital cam so I can get some pics up. It is a nice truck overall even though it has a cracked dash and someclear coat issues on the hood and roof. (sun damageI think, black truck) I want to eventually do new skyjacker 5 in suspension with 2 in spacers in front for 7 in. lift and 5 " add a leaf for rear with 2 in lvling blocks for 7 in rear. Also addingin the 2 in body I would have 10 in lift [sm=drooldude.gif] and maybe some 44 boggers. Anyone have any suggestions for suspension work?
sounds like you've got a great plan there....you might want to try to peice together the kit instead of buying it new, cuz you can get a thurenfab track bar and dc long arms, and 5" skyjacker coils, and a skyjaker extreme pitman arm for alot less then the whole kit itself...but once you kit rid of your rancho kit i'll take it off your hands for cheap
