brake booster test?
Does anyone have a proceedure for testing the vacuum brake booster on a 99 Dodge? I've got the "Merry Christmas" post manual, but it's forthe newer model hydraulic unit.
I just got my truck running again after 3 yrs of sitting. I've got about 1/4 pedal of good brakes, then it's like I put a brick under the pedal. Anything after 1/4 pedal is HARD and I have to actually stand up on the pedal to get any more stopping power. I've hooked up a vac gauge, but there doesn't seem to be any problems there.

I dont know if this is right, but i was told years ago to apply the brake pedal and hold it down, and if the pedal keeps going down then it would be bad, also could mean other problems to i guess.
Give it a shot,couldnt hurt

easy way to test it is to press down on the pedal with the engine off. While keeping pressure on the pedal start the engine. You should feel the pedal go down slightly. If the pedal does not sink a little after the engine starts your booster is not working or there is no vacuum supply.
