seafoam?
Check all of your auto parts stores. Napa usually has it and now Schucks has it. It's a white can with red cursive lettering. It's an old school engine carbon cleaner/ bug bomb. Meaning it will smoke all the bugs out of your yard.
Take off the breather hose from the brake booster and slowly pour in half a can with the motor running. It will suck it into the intake. Then shut it off for 10-25 min or so and then start her up. It will clean carbon, oil, cats, bats, rats, bugs, and anything else gumming up your combustion chamber. It's good to change oil afterwards and possibly plugs if you had a lot of smoke/carbon burn off. Price is less than ten bucks.

Is this a good product for preventive maintnence or should you only do it if you have a problem? Also, i've heard to let it sit for 6-8 hours, is it dependant on how much seafoam you use?
I would say it's okay to use as "preventative maintenance, just not ALL the time. If you bought the truck used and you have quite a few miles, I'd probably use it to clean any crap that you don't know is in there. But I wouldn't do it, say, every oil change or you'll probably start blowing gaskets like crazy. Just my .02
