TV cable question
About a month go I purchased a performance transmission and had it installed. This morning I went to adjust the TV cable and it actually looks like it is about 1/2 inch too long. The adjustment is as far back as I can set it and the connection is still about a millimeter in front of the throttle clip where it hooks to.
I realize that 1 mm is within specs, but my tranny shifts1 - 2 at 10mph and 2 - 3 at 18 mph. That is too early as I think it should shift 1 - 2 at 15 to 18 and 2 -3 at 25 to 28. In order to get that type of shifting to occur, I think I need a shorter tv cable.
Now the performance tranny was not my original tranny and I was toldthe casing was from an older model. Do different model years have different length tv cables?

I am not sure on the different lengths of the TV cables, but I know when I adjusted mine that I needed to move the lever on the tranny back and forth. Mine looked like it was in the correct specs until I moved the lever on the tranny.
Found my problem. When the tranny was installed the mechanic did not tighten the bolt on the bracket that holds the TV cable to the transmission. When I had looked earlier it was connected, but last night I took another look and it was just hanging. Hooked up the bracket and tightened the bolt. Now she runs like she was stolen.
Just thought I'd let you all know about this little issue.

Interesting, as I don't think my truck is shifting properly, although the bands are due for adjusting (as well as the transmission in need of a rebuild). Thanks for the info.
