Default runing with no 02 sensor??

Has anyone tried running with no 02 sensor?? I went to the muffler shop to talk to him about my cat converter about the 3rd on i've replaced since 1994 when I brought the truck I have about 90000 miles on the truck. He said to just replace with a striaght pipe (which I read alot of people have done) But he wants to just unplug the 02 sensor. Would the truck run right with out any 02 sensor? The truck is a 94 4x4 with the 5.9l
Thanks

you can just put a sim in. then there would be no issues.

ORIGINAL: 94SPORT

What is a sim??

simulator. They send a perfect signal back to the computer. tricks the truck into thinking the cat is 100% efficant.

First try leaving the 02 sensor plugged in and tie wrap it up above the tranny somewhere.
If you get a code, try here:

I don't know much about emissions inspections as we do not have them here (yet), but you may want to ask someone who knows as to whether or not a straight pipe will pass.

sorry to hijack, but I live in NY, where they have to throw all obdII vehicles on teh machine in order to inspect it. If I get a sim, then will it trick that computer as well to allow me to pass?

it should. Im assuming you mean if they check for any codes. If you need a cat and you take it out and they notice then they will fail you, but if your truck is just producing the P0138 code (like mine is now) and you put the sim in, then it will make the trucks computer think its ok and the code will go away. allowing it to pass inspection.

I know in ohio they look for a check engine light, and they take a mirror and look under ur vehicle if its missing a cat they will fail it. so you may wanna gut the cat and shove the straight pipe through the empty cat

The upstream sensor is the one that the pcm uses to determine a/f ratio. The sole purpose of theone you're looking at taking out is to monitor the operation of the cat.
