Default rim question

Hey everyone I am new to the site. I have a question for you guys. I did a search and couldn't come up with the answer. First off I just bought a 2001 ram with the offroad package. I was wondering if I could get 15" rims to fit on it. It seems that there is a better selection of mud tires in the 15" size. Plus the cost of the tires alot cheaoer for 15. I have the stock 17" rims on it now if that matters. Thanks for your help. Tony

Don't know if the brakes are different? But on my wifes cousins non offroad ram he ran 15's. Where are you located. I like the off road rims. I have stock 16's if you want to trade for 16" rims. I am trying to get my hands on a set of off road rims.

there are a couple of ways you can get your dodge for fit 15's. Neither one i recommend. In 98 or 99 dodge switched to a dual piston caliper in the front. This limites your clearance to a 16 inch rim. You can swich your caliper out for a single piston caliper, or you can grind off the top of your caliper for clearance.

Hey Lightninram, I've got the 17's and I'm planning on going to 15s. PM me and maybe we can work out a deal for my 17's.

it was 99 I believe that switched to the dual piston caliper. The sport (and probably the off-road as well) had larger discs in the front which would prevent 15s.
