Default 2001 aftermarket fog light install

I got some cheapo foglights at walmart recently. They are 2.5" diameter round, and fit nicely in the factory opening in the bumper. My problem is that I can not find a way to attach them. When the light is positioned at the back of the bumber opening, the mounting bracket is about 3" from the crossmember under the radiator. Even if it was close enough, there would be no way to get a drill in there to make some screw holes. If I position the bracket over the hole in the crossmember which I assume is for the factory mounts, the lights are several inches below and behind the opening. How are the factory lights mounted, and has anyone fabricated a custom bracket? Thanks

Could you possibly just use a spacer to get it out to where you need? It seems that would be easiest, but pictures would help to see what exactly you mean.

I've done this. It involves making a bracket from the crossmember and sticking out toward the opening in the bumper. Kinda like a diving board : ) ! Nothing difficult, just a piece of flat stock from the hardware store and a couple of bends to get it in the neighborhood, then a couple of holes for the light bracket to screw into.
The factory ones have their own mounting to the bumper; won't work here.

this is an old thread, but I installed the lights a while ago. I did the "diving board" with some scrap sheet metal. Worked fine.

I didn't know yours were aftermarket. They look stock. I really like them. I just always assumed yours were stock. Mine are and look almost identical.
