1997 4x4 wont move help please
well let me start out with saying im new here. i just bought a 1997 1500 club i love it it has a 5.2 in it i bought the truck for 100 bucks off a good friend theres one problem, the truck i think needs a trans. it wont move whatsoever not in drive not in reverse not in anything but the fluid is nice pink and un burnt ive been hearing something about torque converters being problems in these i dont know any suggestions before going to a trans shop and getting ripped off? i work on cars for a living but i dont do transmissions, the truck has 160k miles on it but it runs better than most 1500s ive seen with 50 k i love the truck and dont wanna sell it i just dont wanna dump too much into this thing. is there some cheaper ways of going about it before the dreaded rebuild? thank you for your help

Have you checked the linkage? Is everything hooked up correctly to it? Sounds to me that something isn't hooked to the shifter. Check around the trans for anything missing and alson in the column by the shifter. If everything is hooked then I guess it is possible to break all the bands in the trans so that it will not move. However I have never heard of that.

Well then, start doing transmission and drivetrain! Could be a broken transfer case piece(s) For no drive any position/no abnormal noise symptom, do a line pressure check on the transmission to rule it out. (Plug for everyone's tool guy), That's what the Snap-on/Mac guy and his truck is for!You can fix it, thats the fun part right!!
