Default Engine/Tranny rebuild

Well my other thread had way too much writing and no one said anything in it so I decided to make this one short and to the point.

My 5.2 liter in my 98 ram has about 120,000 on the clock, she is puffing blue smoke and just getting old. The tranny is starting to wonder around and not stick with a gear and slips sometimes. Should a motor/tranny rebuild fix these issues? How much should it put me back if a shop does the rebuilds? I am interested in doing this but need some ball park figures.

Thanks guys.

Depends on the shop, dude. Call a transmission shop and ask.

motor rebuild, incl parts and labor..... umm, anywhere from $1500-3500, depending on stock vs non stock, shade tree vs reman, warranty vs not, friend vs shop
transmission, anywhere from 1500-2500.

I would spend the extra $ and get a aftermarket type rather than doing a stock rebuild with the parts that are going to go out again.
