Problem with Speedometer/Cruise Control
I have a 1997 Ram 1500 1/2 ton, 4x4, 5.9L and I was driving and my speedometer stopped workign and went to 0. Along with it is the tripometer and the odometer. Also the Cruise control has stopped working, im not posotive if it was at the exact same time, but i believe it was.
I tried repalcing the speed sensor on my truck, first the one on the transfer case. Then the one on the transmission, then the one on the rear differential. All of them are brand new now and still the speedometer dosnt work ( Or Cruise control and stuff ). Everything else in the dash still works fine, truck runs as good as it usually does. If anyone has any idea what could be the problem, would you please let me know what it could be? Also it would be very helpful if you would include possibly some help on how to do it, or if it is located in my Haynes manual. If you need any more information to maybe help me out here just post, I will be checking thje post very often so please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any response.[/align]

this works on my 01, but i'm not sure if its valid for your 97, but here goes. perform a cluster test by pressing and holding in the trip meter button on the speedometer, while turning the ignition to on. after a moment it will display CHEK, and the cluster will do a self test where it lights up all the lights, then positions each gauge to about 1/4, then 1/2, then full.
are you getting the mysterious NO BUS ?
you might try re-seating the cluster. just a long shot.
