Default tranny question

Well my truck runs real smooth, tranny shifts fine until 2nd gear.. when you speed up to get into 3rd, it doesnt shift all it does is keep going and going as long as i have my foot on the pedal.. now mind you it doesnt jerk or anything its like it just stays in the gear... So what you have to do is take your foot off the pedal and it will shift into 3rd without and jerking... now is this a serious problem? i mean all it does is stay in 2nd until i take my foot off the gas the tach goes down and its back to normal.. sometimes it does it sometimes it doesnt.. and its not like slipping.. anyone know what could be the problem?

If it's an RH transmisson it may be the governor sticking.

Could be the Throttle Valve Cable is out of adjustment. A too tight cable will produce symptoms similar to what you explain. It should be adjusted to move exactly with the throttle movement. It should NOT lag behind (too loose) or lead (too tight). Good luck.

I hada simularissue but mine would start working sometimes after I drove 5+ miles. It turned out to be a cracked attenuator valve in the tranny. Parts and Labor was about $1100.

Good luck and remember the more you drive it like that, the more your going to burn up the clutches.

I had the same thing several years ago. I was told that a seal dries up some and the seat that it mounts into was ground slightly large by the factory and causes fluid to pass which results in low pressure and a bad shift from 2 to 3. Whether that was actually it or not, who knows but, I had mine rebuilt like Buc. I also agree with him. You need to get it fixed now.
