It'll work just fine, they make lockers for all the different gear ratios. There are 2 different ranges for the gears though, either 3.92s and down, or 4.10's and up.

Default RE: Rearend?

i went through the same questions awhile back. how to afford new 4.10 gears on front and rear, and how to put in some kind of locker on rear and maybe front.

rear gears runs about 260, plus install kit 100, plus shipping, plus labor.
front gears run about 160, plus install kit 100, plus shipping, plus labor.
its not really a diy for inexperienced hackers, and there's lots of variation in labor cost.
so estimate $600 in parts and maybe 300-500+ in labor and your over $1000 on gears.

powertrax locker is a diy, onto any gear ratio, either before or after a gear swap, it doesn't matter. i got the rear noslip from PORC for about $400. a detroit, or air locker, or ox, are all a lot more, and not diy.

being a cheap skate, i opted to do the powertrax noslip for now, and do city driving with OD off, and maybe change gears later.

i like the noslip, but it does feel and act and sound a little different and it takes a little getting used to. its not a problem, but its different. there's a little pushy feel in curves that you notice for a couple of weeks. there is also an occasional pop that scares you at first. i called powertrax about and there said not to worry about it. it moves around a lot to slip in curves and sometimes it just pops a notch. the one thing i don't like is when i drive around in the yard at the house. it requires road friction to slip in turns, so that the outside wheel can rotate more. in the grass there is not enough friction, so one tire drags and tears up the grass. oh well. now for the good news. its a beast in mud. no more one-wheel wonder and i hardly ever use 4wd anymore. beware powertrax is more of a stock product, and not recommended for BIG tires (> 33) and HI horsepower.
