Default Towing a ram

I don't have my truck's manual with me, so I figured I'd ask here.

I own a 94 dodge ram without brake lines (now anyways!), and it's parked a ways from my house. I'd fix it down there and drive it home, but finding someone to blow 6 hours of their day seems pretty rediculous to me. So I planned on renting a car towing dolley and towing it home with another vehicle.

Is it possible to tow a 1500 ram with 4x4 over a long distance without messing any of my drive train componants up? Do I tow it by lifting the front wheels or the back? Any general tips for towing a vehicle?

Thanks for the help!

Put the 4x4 selector into "Neutral" to disconnect the driveshaft.

Exactly, once the TC is in neutral the tranny gets no input from the wheels via the TC. Tow as far as you need.

Thanks guys.

Unfortunately nobody nearby has anything that will tow my truck (yay rural areas), so it looks like I'll be fixing it out there.
