flowmaster 40 install
i wanna get a flowmaster 40 but seem to be having trouble finding the right size my stock setup best ican tell is 2 1/2 in 21/2 out single outlet but the length of the muffler is like 34 inches every store seems to have trouble finding the right length,do i have to get some exstendtion tubing or does flowmaster actually make one the right length
this is where we gotta be careful....yes you will need a extension pipe to make this fit...now some rams depends on years had a 3" tail pipe ..what you do is messure the tail pipe dia. then u mite need a 3" out on the flowmaster.. if its 2 1/2" in /out then go to a exhaust shop if you have one close by and let them cut the pipe for you , get the pipe to fit over the stock pipe so there is no reduce......
Measure your pipe, but mine on my 1999 was 2.5".
Flowmaster mufflers advertised as 2.5" in and out will work for your truck. The muffler itself has a tube that is slightly larger than 2.5" and slips right over your stock 2.5" tube and you clamp or weld it in place. The same applies for the rear outlet, the muffler is larger than the 2.5" stock pipe and it just slips over the pipe and you clamp or weld it on.
I don't remember how long my stock muffler was, but I just cut off my old muffler and tailpipes, and then slipped on the Flowmaster and clamped it in place. For the rear originally I had a turn down that also slip fit the muffler and just clamped in place.
Good luck to you, you'll love that signature Flowmaster sound!
