While I'm on the road in 2wd, I have absolutly no problem with the tranny or anything for that matter. But when I shift into 4wd and start off roading, my tranny will switch into nuetral by itselft while I'm going over bumps and what not. Now what I'm wondering is if anyone else has had this problem or if this is just a sign that my tranny is going bad?

 

Mine does it too...

Nothing is wrong with the trans...
Mine does it only on big bumps (like if the front end of the truck comes OFF the ground then hits), all it is you hit so hard it throws the shifter lever in neutral... not a biggie.. just a pain.

 

mine does the same thing. i hit a big one and i go to give it gas and nothing, it just knocks the lever back to Neutral

 

Don't drive so fast. I'm not bashing but I really don't think its off roading by juyst driving fast down a bumpy 2 track or trail.

 

Mine does it too, usually after I hit a small bump too.

 

Ok, I was kind of getting worried about it because although I am planning on replacing the tranny eventually, I didn't want it to be any time soon ya know. Oh and Socha....that is exactly what is causing my tranny to shift neutral...the trails here are really bumpy, not really that small, and I do tend to take them too fast. I've driven down the trails fast enough to have my seatbelt lock up a number of times and my butt has left the seat a couple times. I'll just have to slow down a bit and not take the fun parts of the trails so fast, at least not until I give my truck a life and have a better suspension on it.
