Driving steadily with the tc unlocked will cause heat. Some people do this mod because of the perceived 'bog down' that they experience when the tc locks under heavy acceleration.

I sometimes use the switch when getting on the interstate and Ihave to merge into trafficaround 50-55mph. My truck won't accelerate with the TC locked at 50mph. If I was more of a self-centeredjerk I wouldn't do it, instead I would merge in at my own speed and let people behind me hit the brakes and drive around me. Around here the self-centered jerks are the ones that refuse to slide over a lane to allow someone to merge onto the highway. Ten miles up the road the same a-hole will be sitting in the hammer lane doing 55.
