Default coolant and evap?? small knocking noise coming from evap canister

not sure but my CEL came on again after i replaced the gas cap, been getting small evap leak code ,i noticed the biggest hose that runs from the the bottom of theblack thing part of the evap system under the hood on the pass side next to the inside fender, the hose is theone that runsover the inside fender well and down towards under the pass side cab along the frame rail,as it starts to go down under the cab next to the exhaust manifoldit looks like itchanges from one size hose to another with factory tape around it,thats where it looks like it leaking from, rightnext to the frame rail underthe pass feetsideit is leaking fluid. what fluid is this? looks an kinda smells like coolant, (dirty)is that even possible?dont know to much about this evap system, read earlier to spray wd40 to look for leaks in the hoses, just curious to whats leaking . does not smell like gas , thanks , sorry no pics yet

Sure sounds like you're describing the evap. system where it leaves the leak detection pump. But, this has nothing to do with coolant system at all. I suspect if it is coolant, it is dripping from someplace else and ONTO this line. Maybe a leak in the heater core and coming out the a/c drain tube and dripping on the vac. line for the evap. canister. Just a guess tho at this point.

what should i do? start replacing hoses, purge selinoid, evap canister, checked the lines and they seem to be ok, ill take the canister off and see if gas is in there , there is a small knocking noise coming from it when it idles , does that mean its bad?? i dont know , the dealer wants $118 for the canister and $48 for the purge selinoid, and no parts store here carry that stuff, any more ideas, ive had two new gas caps one from dodge dealer ,and one from A Z , ill go back out and check more hoses , the coolant im sure is coming from that drip tube, its in the perfect spot, so thanks on that, i soaked all the vacuum lines with throttle body cleaner and there was no change in idle speed while i did it, there is a round canister and a square one right next to it , im lost, checked code again it was p0442

Yeah, for the age of the vehicle, go ahead and start replacing the hoses. I did mine on a 2001 a year or so back and no more problems with small evap. leaks. Start on TOP of the canister. It's an out of sight tube and on mine it started as a small crack. Not able to deal with it at the time, I just cut off a little and stuck it back on. About a week later it coded me again. haha. I let it go about another week and it grew into a "gross leak" so I replaced the tube. After that I just worked my way forward to the leak detection pump(LDP).Oh, and the knocking noise is ok unless its REALLY banging. Thats the sound of the solenoid vacuum at the canister as it opens and closes.
Now, don't replace the canister yet. If it were clogged, the LDP would set a different code telling of blockage. Ditto with the solenoid. Different code too. And PLEASE stay out of the dealership unless it's for a part or something that just can't be got somewhere else. A tip on the hoses at the LDP: if they are good, carefully remove them and lube the connections with silicone grease. That'll give them a good seal as you'll note they have no clamps. They are going to be a dealer part if they have to be replaced.
Also, on the heater core, if that is where the coolant is coming from, not an easy or cheap fix. You might also check where the heater hoses go into it from the engine compartment. Maybe a leak there.
Sheesh! That got lengthy
