Diesel is the way your going to want to go for doing alot of pulling. They offer consitent milage, unbelievable torque and wont bog down on you when you pulling a load up a hill (not like a gas motor anyway) If you can't find one that in your price range, then my second choice would be the V10. The gas mileage is at or not much below the 360's, but has way more power. When it comes to pulling your stuff around your going to want the extra power of the V10.

go diesel. my dad has a 95 2500 with the 12 valve cummins straight six in it and hes got over 300k miles on it with no major engine troubles. he also put ona torque plate and hes getting about 750 ft lbs of torque. definitely the way to go.

Another problem that hasn't been mentioned so far is the "death wobble." We had this problem with a '96 2500 we had. Basically it will just wander all over the road. That is the best way I can think of to describe it. I think the problem has something to do with the tie rod but I'm not real sure. The diesel is great but I really don't think you'll find one for $6 grand unless it has 500k miles on it. There's my 2 cents.

Track Bars are usually the cause of this. $130 replacement.
