Default Transmission adjustment

Is there a way to tell if your bands are in need of adjustment? What will the truck do when they are out of adjustment? While driving in town the truck will shift through the gears fine. Once I get to about 33 mph it will also shift into OD. This seems wrong to me. I did adjust my TV cable and it did not affect the shifting.

The bands should be adjusted with every fluid and filter change, every 30kmi. If they need adjustment badly, they can cause shifting issues. Has it ever been done? tell us a little about your truck, i.e. year, mileage, engine, 2wd or 4wd.

96 25004x4 360with 163k. I have only owned it for about 1 month. The transmission was gone through to repair OD prior to me buying it. Unfortuanely I do not know the miles since rebuild. TI drives good but just does nto seem quite right. I can't really explain it. But the shifting to OD around 30MPH in town driving has me concerned.

Just a bump. Haven't had my Ram long yet, but since I'm a knut about maintenance and about to do tranny fluid, filters and add tranny drain plug. Nothing seems wrong with my tranny but since y'all are talking about adjusting the bands I'll do some more research before getting messy...

Shifting to OD around 30 is normal for very little or no throttle. In lots of traffic or a big town I lock the OD out.[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
