Default which tranny?

Which tranny do i have in my 98 ram 1500 4x4 auto 5.9l 360 single cab long bed. Just been looking at shift kits and thinking about getting one do they really help the slippage of the tranny and prolong the life of it.

Thanks basile

Call your local AutoZone or O'Reilly autoparts store they can pull it up for you. I have the same truck but I forgot.

I put one in my ram and it made the tranny last a tad longer untill it came apart towing an overloaded trailer through the western mountains. The shop left ot in when they rebuilt my tranny and I love how snappy the shifts are.

One note of caution, I would go with the "firm" setting for your shifts, not the "performance" setting for 4x4 applications. The performance setting sends more drive train shock through the powertrain which could cause collateral damage on other components in certain offroad situations. For instance, if your spinning on rocks or mud and hit a dry spot as the tranny upshifts....OOOOOPPPPPSSSSSS

Of course if you never really offroad your 4by, its not an issue.

You have a 46RE.

Anyways I see you waited 1.5 hrs before you reposted. It usually takes several hours and even up to 24 hours until you can get some good responces
