so my dad used to have an old F150 (87 260,000 miles, bit of rust) regardless it was a phenomenal work truck, was used to haul around dirt trees around the yard, dump runs. any who he found it it needed around 1500 to get it through inspection so he was in the market for a new (used) truck. we looked at all the Ford's Chevys and Dodges around his area and i guess he just picked up a
1999 Dodge 1500
67,000 miles
Maroon and silver
4x4 drive
the 5.9 Magnum motor
the club cab with the two extra doors and the back seat.
power windows, doors, seats, AC etc.. etc..
non leather, has a bed liner
he used the truck for towing a snowmobile (not heavy) but was original owner and he had a tranny cooler on it since new.
seems to have taken very good care of it along with regular oil changes and tranny flushes.

i guess all it needs is new tires and a couple of mait items. he had the whole truck looked over and had the mechanic said it needed about 800 bucks to bring it back to near perfect condition (for the age) so he offered the guy 7,000 he is having 800 put into it so for 7800 he has him self a new truck still doesn’t have it but I’m basically wondering if you all think he has himself a decent deal?

also what are some of the typical things you guys do to your trucks to get them running better etc.. typical mod's

I was at the stealership last weekend. They had two 2nd gens:

1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 QC, 5.2L auto, 140,000, fiberglass topper, plain jain wheels...$8,000.

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4, QC, 5.9L auto, 90,000, loaded with heated leather etc, MTR's...$13,000.

I'd say $7,000 is a good price. For a clean 4WD QC pick up. You might have to put a block behind the gas pedal to make the adjustment from the Ford a little easier.

 

cool thanks guys, i guess he wrote the guy a check today for 7k, and hes leaving the truck at the shop to do the mait items (doing a fresh trany clush also) i havent seen it yet but it sounds like a fun truck to tool around in! Any of you know of any cheep mods that can be done to these things? its not my car so im not going to spend any real money on it but if i can do somthing cheap to gain a few hp id be intrested.
