i know the dealship is the last place to go, but i was just curious as to how much a heater core and upper / lower radiatorhoses and t-stat would be? thay said $1500! that's a BIG 10-4 WOW!! at an independent shop they wanted $850..i just have to find the time to do this myself, friggen dash pull!!!!

 

I worked at dealerships for about 30 years and that seem ridiculous even at $90-95 a flat rate hour. The reason I left dealerships is they made me feel like a thief most days (when all I really wanted to do was repair cars and make a decent living). The really sad thing is that the tech is probably only getting about $20-25 of that flat rate. I know they have a high overhead but please.

 

The independent shop seems about right. That is, compared to shops in my local area. Find a way to do it yourself. The $700 savings is a great incentive.

A t-stat for a V-10 will run you over $30! Still worth the savings to DIY!

 

I hear ya on the stealership part, i just ordered that black plastic piece that's on the bottom of thefront bumper, the "front air dam" or whatever.....$120, ok fine order it i said. Later i found some online for $80, junkyard woulda probably beeen even cheaper, o well.
