Check engine...no code
Hi guys, I am new to the forum, and only know a small amount about vehicles, so please try to keep the lingo to a "beginner" level.
I have a 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 and the check engine light has been coming on and off since I got it. The code that it was giving us was an O2 sensor. The other day my oil presure gauge started fluctuating more than it usually does. When I stoped at a light after exiting the highway, it dropped to about 30. I heard a "ding ding" noise and my check engine light came back on. We have taken it to two different Autozones (to make sure this just wasn't someone not knowing what he was doing) and neither one of them could get any reading from the OBD II scanner. They said to check the cigarette lighter because often the OBD II scanner goes to the same fuse as the lighter is on , but it works fine. I thought I would try to figure out where the fuse would be for it, but I can't seem to find it. Please help me.
Thank you.

first off, welcome to DF. this might sound funny but did you check your oil level. if its low the pump might not be picking it up. also, the oil pressure sending units are good for breaking. did you look at that. the reason i say that is cause you said it fluctating more than normal. could be the problem. check your oil first and make sure you have enough. there might not be any on the ground, but the plenum gaskets are known for failing, consuming oil, and you wouldn't know unless you checked the level. post back your findings.
I guess I should have mentioned that, yes, we checked the oil level and it was 3 quarts low! (This was a week or two ago) We have filled it back up and have been checking the oil every couple of days and it doesn't seem to be losing any again. It does not leak oil and doesn't seem to burn it either. The Plenum gasket is what we need to check next, but I still need to find out why we are getting no reading at all when trying to pull the codes from the check engine light coming on. It seems the day this all started it registered a new problem, but now the computer is fried or something.
Thank you so much for your response.
