Default Front rear leak

I have developed a small gear oil leak on the drivers side front differential. It's an intermittant leak (more when it's hot out) thatdrips off the lower ball joint area. My guy who normally helps me thinks it's an internal gear oil seal near the pumpkin that's unique to Dodge & Jeep. He doesn't have the tool needed to change this out and says it's mainly a dealer item/job. He thinks they charge about 5-6 hours of labor for this. Anyone have any experience with this and how much should I expect to get hammered for? 1999 4WD Cummins 2500 with Dana rears. Thanks......
