Tire question for '01 Ram Off Road
I have the 17 inch factory wheels on my '01 1500 Ram with the Off Road pkg., what are the largest tires I can run without doing any modifications?
The ones that have my interest are the 315x75/16's. What would be the equivilant in a 17 inch tire, and would they be too large for my truck?
TIA

The 315/75r16 is about 35" tall by 12.5" wide, and and a 315/75r17 is 1" taller. This is WAY too big for your stock truck. The largest you should safely be able to fit is the 265/75r17. This is about a 33" tall by 10.5" wide tire.
I never did mention that I indeed put on some 33x12.50/17's Mickey Thompson's.
They've been some great tires, although maybe just a tad wide for the factory wheels.
Been very happy with them, and will put on another set come winter time. Thanks for the advice.
