Pushrod failure
Hello, I finally got my truck running, and she ran good untill I had pushrod failure. I broke in the motor very gentle 2000 miles, but I kept hearing my roller rockers tapping a little bit louder. Today she lost power and the tappet sound went away. I opened her up and sure enough, I have a bentpushrod and all others are chaffing on the guideplates. I have the Eddelbrock Heads and 1.7 MoparRoller Rockers and she runs good, untill now. Has anyone had the sameproblem where the pushrods were chaffingon the guide plates?
I don't think that the geometry of the Mopar rr'sis correct for the Eddy heads. You may want to call Hughes or KRC to confirm this. I assume you're using hardened pushrods?
A second thing to check is to make sure that you have the right length pushrods. When I had my engine built the builders apprentice used the wrong heads and I encountered coil bind. This happened because the valve seal seats and guides were not cut down correctly for the camshaft lift that I was running. This caused all of my pushrods to bend and chafe. I also broke a factory rocker arm and a valve. While my problem was not directly related to the pushrods, it was related to valve train geometry.
mopowerhas the right idea and you should first contact somebody to discuss the Mopar rr's and Eddy heads. The pushrods for our Magnums come in different lengths and you may need to use a different length or it could be as mopower said, eddy heads and Mopar RR's may not play well.
Hope you get if fixed before you have the same problem I did. Good luck

Im also thinking that I did not adjust the rockers correcectly, too tight would cause this problem, right? Where can I find more info on adjusting roller rockers?
My roller rockers are non-adjustable Harlan Sharps. I just torqued them down per the specs. If yours are adjustable Mopar you need to contact Hughes or wherever you bought the rockers from to get the directions for adjusting them.
