When i put myautomatic transmisionin drive or reverse i get this clunking sound from the transfer case . I have had truck up on jack stands cluncking from the transfer case. could the transfer case chain be lose or jack shaft. transmision does not slip.

Take it out and tear it down somthing is F**ked inside

 

How can you be 100% sure its from the t-case? Clunks are usually from the driveshaft u joints.

 

I have put new u jionts in my drive shaft i was told it could be back lash from spider gears in rear axle assembly.

 

Yeah, 95% thats what it is.

Its not bad and theres nothing wrong with your gears. They're worn in the way have have been for years, so changing it would cause alot more problems.

You can either:

1. get use to it and ignore it, since its normal for all solid rear end vehicles

or

2. Get new gears set up, but they'll end up being the same way after use and they get worn in.
