360 Crate motor from mopar?
i have a 5.9L 1997 dodge ram 1500 and i was thinking of putting a supercharger on it, but it costs like 4-5k and then i saw on Mopar's website they have 360 crate motors up to 395hp for around 5k. and sense a 360 is the same as a 5.9 wouldnt it be a direct swap into my truck? but i noticed it had some fine print saying not for trucks and not for use with air conditioning, and it would be in a truck and i would need a/c cuz i live in texas where its HOTT. but what problems do you think i might occur if i do the engine swap?
thanks,
Fred
thanks,
Fred
yeah fred i had the same idea. not alot of people know about those engines. that one you are lookin at is not for trucks but there is a 390+ that you can use. one person told me there was not a bracket for the ac pulley, you can probably fabricate one though. you should email mopar and ask them and let me know!
it is physically the same block you have and would bolt in place, except the intake manifold is not compatible with the a/c brackets. but that manifold is for a carb not fuel injection. that engine is made for bracket cars, not heavy trucks and would probably have a worse bottom end than the engine you have. those 390 horses are up at high rpms. go for a stroker short block, some r/t heads, and the usual bolt ons.
