Default Will a 160 Amp Alt work?

Does anybody know if a 2001 Durango 5.9L 160 Amp Alternator would work on a 2001 Ram 1500 5.2L? I know the alts for the 5.2 and 5.9L rams are interchangable, but not sure about Ram to Durango. The pulleys are both 7 groove though I believe the serpentine belt size isn't the same (different part #). Looking for a bit larger alternator than the 136 if I can find it and I'm trying to avoid the $400 tag for a 200 amp Mean Green.

Has anybody tried this?

I would assume it'd pretty much bolt right in.

Meant to add that the electrical connectors look identical from what I can tell in pictures, as do the mounting bracket oreintations. But Ican't find a local dealer witha 160 alt to compare visually with mine.

i would have to say yes....wouldn't the 2 motors (Darango and Ram) be the same. I can see any reason why they would have made a 5.9 differnt for darango and ram. and the same for the 5.2. so if the part numbers are the same for the 5.2 and the 5.9 in the truck, i would say thjat they are the same for thedarango. Best way to check it tho, askthe parts guy to check and see if there are interchangable alts. between the darango and the ram (for example, if the 136 fits in the ram and darango).

Taking a guess I'd say the Durangos have the 160 amp alt because it has electric fans. Only problem is that I dunno if the Durango actually has electric fans

Probably gota 160 amp alt to power all that babysitting stuff (extra radio, tv, dvd player, ipods, etc.)

I don't know so much any more looking at the Autozone pics:
http://www.autozone.com/R,APP181123/...ductDetail.htm
http://www.autozone.com/R,APP181116/...ductDetail.htm

It might bean optical illusion due to the black backing on the durango's, but the bottom mounting bracketlooks slightly bent to the side.
