Default Tighten the steering

Im disapointed with the slop in the steering in the dodges, Is there anything to be done about making it more reactive? a closer ratio gear or something?

i have a quick ratio gear box if u want it the top four bolts are striped u could rethread them basicly what happened is i bought the gear box and i had it sitting for a like 4 months i put it in and the bolts that hold the top cover on were striped out some how from the factory and they wouldnt take it back so i had to spend another 400 on a new one theres nothin wrong with it just some sufrace rust and the top four bolts are striped so the top will slide a fraction of a inch when u turn and squrit some fluid but as i remember its 12:1 ratio

heres the link to it http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
if u want it ill give it to u for like 100

it turns preatty quick for a truck i have had mine in there for like 10000 miles so far no problems the only other way i could see to tighten it up would be newer tie rod ends they might have some play in it or if u wanted to be creative somehow make a rack and pinion set up work dont know if u could make that work though

dont know what the factory ratio is but it looks just like the one in the link in my earlier post it was only in there for like 500 miles so its light rust u could sand it off and paint it real quick and retap the bolt holes and it would be brand new

There is an adjustment in the steering box, when I did it it helped noticeably.

Heres how, its kinda a PITA to get to though.

On the top of the there is a little adjustment screw sticking out. Its an Allen head. Get the right size Allen wrench and put it in. There is also a nut on the outside that is tightened down so the Allen won't move. (You'll see what I mean when you look at it) Once the nut is loose start to tighten the Allen down until it stops. Then loosen it up about a 1/2 a turn and tighten the lock nut down.

It helped me, give it a try. Other play in the steering comes from bad TREs and play n the steering shaft.
