Default My gear install

Well this morning I woke up early and decided I was gonna put my 4.56 gears in. Everything was going pretty smooth until I ran into the adjust for the differential bearings.I can't seem to find a tool for it anywhere. Does anybody know either the name of the tool for or the size of hole shaped like a nut so that I could build a tool for it. This is the only thing holding me up from getting the carrier out and is driving me nuts.

You need a tool like the one shown on this page
from Tom's Differentials that is labeled
Part #SW-480

http://www.tomsdifferentials.com/catalog.asp?pg=122

you can make a homemade tool like this
from a torsion bar from the suspension of a
Chrysler K-car
which has the same fitting on the end

thanks for the info HANKL. After searching around memphis all weekend I found the actual this morning, but they are having to order it. THe company that makes the tool is OTC who makes most of chryslers tools. THe OTC part # for the tool is #6602. So anybody thinking of doing rearend work on the C9.25 make sure you have this before you start or you won't be able to get the cariier out. I'll keep ya'll updated on if I blow my rearend up or not.

I wish I had a camera to take pics with. Everytime I have a little bit of extra cash and think about getting a camera I end up doing something else to the truck. Hopefully it won't take long for them to ship the tool and get it to me. I am so anxious to get the 4.56's in and see what they will realy do to my mileage with the 33's on the truck.

Well after 2 weeks of tinkering and waiting for parts the install is complete. I highly recommend anybody planning on doing this themselves to take the carrier somewhere and have the bearings pressed off so save yourselfe alot of trouble. I ended up messing my carrier up so I had to buy go out and buy me a detroit trutrac. I've been trying to break them in easy so I haven't realy had it up above 50mph yet but I will give ya'll some rpm numbers with speed in the next few days along with a mpg update.
