Default more horsepower

I'm looking to get more horsepower out of my '97 ram 5.2l. I don't want to get too complicated. I have 35" mickey thompson tires that really suck the power out of it.My tranny shifts in and out ofOD sparraticallywhenI drive at highway speeds. I am pretty sure that is because the tranny is shifting while the engine is at too low of an rpm because of the big tires. Will upping the horse power fix this problem? If not what will? Please keep in mind that I plan on upping the horsepower and any suggestions on how to do so would be appreciated.

the only way to fix the trans from "wondering" is getting different gears. You'll need 4.10 or 4.56's depending what you do mostly with the truck...mostly highway go with 4.10's. offroad alot or alot of street driving 4.56's.

you should go to your local oreilly's or whatever auto parts store is in your area and get one of those computer chip programmers which should have an area to tell your truck what size your tires are that you are running at the moment and that should take care of your problem my buddy who has a lifted s-10 zr2 did that to his made the adjustments and his truck runs fine now but, remember to keep the receipt so you can return the damn thing b/c they are expensive.

He pretty much sum'd it up for a good start on upping the horsepower. Like mentioned before get some different gears in that beast that'll help get you moving and keep you moving with those 35's on.
