backfire?
ok well i figured i would try to adjust the exhaust..well apparently the popping is coming from where the header meets the block..i look clsely and i can see a lil quick frame townards the end of the header where it meets the block.. now what can cause this? i already check the bolts they were snugged..can it be the gasket? but why would there be flames? i hope nothing serious is wrong
My friendwas always burning up gaskets on his chevy. It has a standard shift trans so he drives it a bit and then to scare people he shots it off while in gear. He waits a couple second and when he starts it again it makes a giant backfire. he switched to copper gaskets and now cant burn them up
but it only does it on one section of the header..not the whole thing.. i noticed it does it on the other side to..and the both leak closest to the cab..so can a bad gasket cause this? cause i just put it on about 2 weeks ago...or can it be something else
Are they aftermarket headers?
If not its just the gasket thats shot, unless the headers themself are cracked or something. If they are stock I would get some aftermarket ones since its gonna be a PITA to get the stock ones off anyways.
