....like has been said anything is possible, but for the time and effort its gonna take, sell the 2wd and buy a 4x4... the amount you would spend buying a donor truck (provided you could find one the same as the 2wd you have) combined with what you would get selling your 2wd would be more than enough to pay for a 4x4, not to mention the time, facilities, and tools it will take, and unforeseen gremlins that you will find...unless the truck has sentimental value oryouyour lookingfor a big projectfor something to doid say ditch it for a 4x4 and save your self the headache....its lint the guys who wanna put a CTD in there 1500....its possable (as we have seen) but you half to ask, is it really worth it unless your just looking for a project

Ya if you could find a wrecked 4x4 and swap parts. Or even easyer swap frames. Thats what I did. I just bought a rollover. The body was shot but frame perfect. I swaped the frame keeped my body and engine. It took me a weekend to do it. The body mounts location should be the same. It bets buying a new 4x4. It cost me $1,100 for the entire truck complete execpt for the engine. I had a better one a 5.9 than the stock 5.2. That was everything From tranny transfercase (which were rebuilt 200miles beforeit waswrecked!)everything! I even took the seatbelts and other stupid things. I thought might as well, one day mine will go out! The best part was the junkyard came and picked up my scrap frame and the bad body and bed when I was done. All trash when I was done with it. This is the best thing I did to my truck! The 5.9 is close but 4x4 justis better. Just add another 100 or so for fuilds and another 300 to upgrade the front axle to 3.9 gears to match the rear. So When all done it came out to $1,500 or so! That sure beats $5,000-10,000 and upfor another truck!

Default Me too!

I know this is old....but..Woooooh! Me and my buddies did this starting at about 5pm friday night, and finished saturday evening at around 7. Totally worth it. I actually MADE money on the whole project, bought a pretty good one for 1400, all the leftover parts i sold for around 1600!
