Plenum in progress (need a little help now)
I have been having big problems with my 95 ram 5.2 running rough, really since I got it. I've been through everything, including a new engine....and I have now taken the intake manifold off to inspect the plenum. There were no tears in it, although there was definitly a oil pooling towards the back. But I found something else that was very interesting and I don't know what to make of it....but I need help cause I'm not sure what I should do....
Hank said in another post on the troubleshootin board that it could be my EGR (or plenum, or cracked head) causing the running problems. Well I had had my EGR checked out by a mechanic and the guy said it tested fine. But after pulling the plenum plate I found that the port that goes to the EGR tube on the inside of the intake manifold had been filled with gasket maker. Somebody closed it off. Not only that, but they never even connected the tube back up on the old motor (we connected itback up whenwe did the engine swap). So someone tried to disable to EGR. Is that even sufficient to disable it, isnt EGR tied into the computer?
The question that I need answered in the next few minutes if possible is should I unclog the EGR where they sealed it off? I'm thinking I should, but I wanna make sure cause its a fair amount of work to get down in there.
Please, I know how message boards are, but respond if you think you know the answer asap. This is my only vehicle and I'm gonna need it back, so I need to get cracking.
