Default 1995 Dodge Ram 4X4 5.9L Noise Questions

I just recently acquired this 1995 Dodge Ram 5.9L Magnum V8 SLT Laramie Extended Cab Short Bed 4X4 truck from my mom. It was her late husbands truck, he put a ranchero kit on it, lifted it 3 inches I thinkand man does it ride rough. I have been driving the truck for about 3 days now and have some questions about it.

After driving the truck for a while when I get out I hear this strange hissing noise coming from the front of the truck. It only lasts about 15 to 30seconds and then stops.

When driving the truck in Drive I am hearing this strange clicking sound when you accelerate, when you let off the gas it stops. It is not a slow then fast ticking but just a even steading annoying clicking sound. Sounds similiar to me like on old cars when you would get a donut gasket leaking. But the exhaust is not leaking at the manifolds?

Also today while I was driving it the check engine light came on, I checked everything on the truck and all is ok. I called my mom and she said oh that check engine light comes on and off all the time and not to worry about it?

Any ideas on maybe what could be causing these before I take it in and pay an arm and a leg to find out....

Thank you,

i have the same truck as you. i also have a constant check engine light. i would go to advance (or whatever auto parts store you like) and have them run a cel code and post on here to see what it could be. Mines been on for years and years, but nothins wrong with the truck.

the clicking you hear might be a bearing assembly goin back or a u joint bearin goin bad. ive had this happen as well. acctually, its happenin right now.

the hissing noise is the radiator, mine does this as well.

welcome to the forum.

I did the on off on off on and it returns a code 34, I looked this up and says something about voltage to the cruise control. So right now I am not going to worry about it and will look at that PCM connection when I have time. The cruise control does not work any ways and my mom had told me that it had stop working some time ago. She would use it when she would drive it but for him he never did.
