Default Alternator?

When i drive i have started to notice that the voltmeter starts to drop and then rise. There isn't that much of a drop but i can tell looking at the gauge. I have a digitial voltmeter on my fuse block for my amp so i can see what the actual value is at idle its around 13.6 or 13.7. I can't really see what it is when driving because the digital readout is located behind the driver seat, although i did look back once and it read around 14.0 volts. Also i hooked my plow up the other day with the new batteries and it did take awhile for the voltage to come back up after moving the plow around. Both batteries are like a month old. I have had the truck for 25k and havn't done anything with the alternator. So is my alternator on the way out? or could it be somehting eles? thanks in advance

you might want to check into swapping the alt for the 135 amp jeep GC one... it sounds like your's is going out.

Will that g.c. fit right in? I thought the stock one for the ram was like 130 amps so would it even be worth it?

I believe it is a drop in swap... do the research to verify. I never needed to swap mine in my 2000 ram so I dont know 1st hand which year will drop in. Physiclly they are all mounted the same, the connector on the back may be different and that is one thing you'll need to verify.
