side sweep exhaust or.....
Side sweeps all the way! I just had my Super 44 dual side swept and it kicks ***! It barks off everything, and it just reflects off buildings and peoples cars when you pass them, you just cannot beat that, plus it looks wicked badass and screams custom my friend! Heres a sound clip of my dual side sweep flowmaster super 44, and a picture of it!

Personally, I prefer out the back. All the noise is behind you, no mud all over the pipes, don't catch on rocks or trees.
After saying that, mine may have to go out the side to clear the left rear shock. The last time I raised it we had to reroute the left side and barely fit between the shock and reciever bracket. While putting the 6" kit on I have now cut the pipe again and may just run one out the right side. I could do away with the spare, but as small as it is, at least I can limp somewhere looking stupidinstead of sitting on the side looking stupid.

ive always wondered why yours do hang down like they do.. do you have to of them under there or just one? i got a super 44 flowmaster under mine and its defenatly longer then 10" and prolly about 10 to 12" wide and fits perfectly.. with plenty of room to spare

I'd go out the sides. or out the sides on a 45.
Or out the passenger side in front of the rear tire like Indys.
I think when I do mine I'm going to run 1 3" pipe out the passenger side infront of the rear tire except lift it up a little bit and have it come out the side of the truck like this setup... I really like this idea.

yea I have 2 side by side. To run one on top of the other so that it would lay flat would cause me to run more bends. I only have 3 bends in the exhaust and they are 45* angles.

To be honest, I think side sweeps are the most realisitic dual option. It follows the stock set-up, but instead there are two of them. Personally, I think out the back is stretching it, as others said, it's all up in your grille when your screwing with trailers and the hook ups, if you get rear ended, then your system is ****ed. Out the back is wicked old school, its so generic, EVERY dodge has out the back. Anyone who is custom either runs one or two pipes out one side, dumps, or side sweeps, plus running out the back encourages most chances of it getting damaged considering its right next to the bumper, and anything that runs into it or you back into is going to mess it right up! When I first got my truck it already had a dual exhaust out the back, and i hated it. I went and bought my own exhaust and had it side swept and I'm in love with it! Once you go roaring up a small city street and your exhaust is devastating both sides of the street just reflecting off people, cars, and buildings, you'll be happy you went side sweeps haha!
thanks guys for all the input,i think im gonna go with the side sweeps, saw one tonight on a chevy look pretty cool will look evan better on a ram, plus he had smaller tips. ill try to figure out how to post some pics this weekend if i can...... love this forum sometimes i dont what i would do without it,and everyones knoweldge and willingness to help.
If you go offroad you woulnd't want to run them straight out the back anyway. Unless you dump it at least a foor before the back bumper. I don't know how many times I've gone home with grass and mud and **** stuck in my hitch reciever and under my back bumper, and If I'd have had big shiny tips and pipes there they'd have been smashed and packed full of dirt.
With my first truck, a 1976 Dodge Powerwagon 4X4 club cab long bed, I put side exit duals that came out in front of the rear wheels. SO, with my 2000 Quab cab short bedI putside exit duals that come outBEHIND the rear wheels. It truly makes music to my ears....AND blows the ears out of all the ricers at stoplights that happen to have their windows open...TEHE
