No brakes!
Ok guys, I'm back for more help! I was driving my truck to work yesterday, when all of a sudden when I went to stop at a red light, my brake pedal dropped all the way to the floor! It still stops, I don't have to stand on the brakes, but the pedal drops really really far, and it stops slow. If I had to make a sudden stop I'd be screwed. Any ideas? It's a 99 Ram Sport extended cab 4x4, 318 motor. Any suggestions of where to start would be appreciated.
Is the fluid up to the proper level? Crawl under the truck and have a look at the rear wheels for possible leaks. Check the front hose connections. Master cylinder leaks. Pull the wheels and look at calipers. Rear wheel cylinders, etc. You're looking for leaks somewhere. If none are found you may have a bad master cyl.
willing to bet its a broken brake line. Get under there and have someone hit the brakes (lightly), if its leaking, you'll see it.
I just had one pop on me. It was a small line that went from the coupler (connecting the long line behind the gass line, to the rear of the truck) to what i believ is a poprtioning valve or something (not really sure what it is). Good luck.
