Default Torque Converter, Round 3

I had my tranny and TC replaced 1 year ago. The TC went out 6 months later. Now after 1 year, it's going out again. The truck is whining and surging under acceleration.

Anyone else go through these things? I only put about 2,000 miles on each TC. I don't pull anything and just drive to work and school. I know oil changes are 3000 mile / 6 months. Are TC's 2000 mile / 6 month? Tranny fluid is full and obviously not that old.

Not really frustrated since it's under warranty, just confused a bit annoyed...

Not saying this is going to fix your problem, but getting a metallic dipstick is a really good inexpensive investment.

My understanding is that a lot of TC problems after rebuild come from not properly flushing all the burned up material from the tranny cooler and lines after rebuilding a tranny. The stuff just goes right back into the TC and tranny.

No Indy, no stall converter. I don't drage race. I need smooth consistent power in lower rpms.

As far as what happened before, the tranny shop told me that there are a bunch of brass fins that are brazed and sometimes they have defects. I'm just wondering how many of these have such defects.

I'm up at college and will have to wait til Thanksgiving to get it to the shop. I'm a bit worried. Today under normal conditions, I had a shift from 1st to 2nd hang til 4000 rpms. The whining is getting worse and the truck is starting to surge on hills under normal acceleration. Hopefully it'll hold together...

Don't think it'll make T'giving. Was the replacement a reman. or new? I also agree with the flush.
